Obverse description The complete national coat of arms of Trinidad and Tobago occupies the central field, featuring a quartered shield displaying three galleons, surmounted by a helmet and a steel-helmeted ship as crest, with a scarlet ibis as dexter supporter and a bird of paradise as sinister supporter, all above a scroll bearing the national motto. The legend REPUBLIC OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO arcs around the upper periphery, while the two-part motto TOGETHER WE ASPIRE TOGETHER WE ACHIEVE appears on the ribbon at the base of the arms. The date 1983 is positioned at the bottom of the field, with the Franklin Mint initials FM appearing within the design.
