Obverse description The complete national arms of Trinidad and Tobago occupies the central field, featuring a shield divided by a cross with three ships of Christopher Columbus in the upper and lower sections, supported on either side by two Scarlet Ibises in full heraldic posture. Above the shield sits a helmet surmounted by a palm tree, while a ribbon scroll at the base bears the national motto in the legend. The country name REPUBLIC OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin lettering, with the date appearing prominently in the lower field.
