Opmerkingen

Singapore's Board of Commissioners of Currency was itself a transitional institution — created in 1967 after the collapse of the interchangeability agreement with Malaysia and Brunei, it replaced the joint Board of Commissioners of Currency, Malaya and British Borneo that had issued notes across all three territories since 1960. This note belongs to the first series issued under Singapore's sole authority, printed by Thomas De La Rue as the city-state established independent monetary footing within two years of separation from Malaysia.

Four signature combinations exist across the series, reflecting ministerial changes at the Ministry of Finance. Hon Sui Sen appears twice — once without the red seal, once with — making his variants the most frequently encountered. Lim Kim San's unsigned-seal variant is the scarcer of the opening signatures.
