Obverse description The obverse is printed in purple and black intaglio on a light guilloche underprint. A portrait vignette of Queen Elizabeth II occupies the right side, rendered in a youthful likeness after the Annigoni-style engraving adopted for the 1954 series. The centre carries the large numeral '10' flanked by the bilingual denominations 'TEN DOLLARS' and 'DIX DOLLARS', with the issuer legend 'BANK OF CANADA – BANQUE DU CANADA' across a dark band below, and two facsimile signatures of senior Bank of Canada officials at the lower centre above a date line reading 1954.
