The centre carries the bank title THE CANADIAN BANK OF COMMERCE in bold letterpress, with the denomination TEN DOLLARS rendered in large red overprint over a multicolour guilloche underprint incorporating a sailing-ship vignette; the date TORONTO, 2ND JANY. 1935 appears to the right of centre. | Beschrijving keerzijde | Deep blue intaglio engraving on a light ground, dominated by two large allegorical figures standing on either side of a central oval vignette: a winged male figure at left holding a caduceus and a female figure at right carrying a sheaf of wheat, both rendered in fine crosshatch engraving consistent with the Canadian Bank Note Company's classical style. The central oval bears the circular legend THE CANADIAN BANK OF COMMERCE enclosing a sailing-ship device, above a rectangular panel inscribed TEN. Bold numeral X denominators appear at the upper left and right corners, with scattered fruit and agricultural motifs filling the lower corners. |
