Obverse description Intricate intaglio engraving in black on a light-toned ground, with elaborate allegorical vignettes flanking both sides: a classical female figure to the left and a seated male figure with animals to the right, each set against ornate scrollwork borders. The centre carries the bank title THE CANADIAN BANK OF COMMERCE in bold letterpress, with the denomination TEN DOLLARS rendered in large red overprint over a multicolour guilloche underprint incorporating a sailing-ship vignette; the date TORONTO, 2ND JANY. 1935 appears to the right of centre. Two facsimile signatures of bank officers appear in the lower centre, flanked by their respective titles, with serial numbers printed in red at left and right.
