备注

The Provincial Bank of the Three Eastern Provinces — Fengtian, Jilin, and Heilongjiang — was a regional institution operating under the warlord administration of Zhang Zuolin, whose control over Manchuria in the 1920s made him effectively independent of the Beijing government. Notes like this one circulated in an economy where provincial and military currencies routinely competed with central government issues, and public trust in any given note depended largely on the political fortunes of whoever was backing it.

Zhang Zuolin's assassination by Japanese Kwantung Army officers in June 1928 destabilized the entire regional financial apparatus, and the bank's note issues were wound down as his son Zhang Xueliang realigned Manchuria toward Nationalist China.

The ABNC plate work is identifiable in surviving examples by the fine engine-turning typical of New York security printing contracts of that decade.
