Obverse description The obverse is dominated by a central oval vignette containing a bust portrait of an elderly bearded gentleman, set against an intricate guilloche underprint. To the left, a small circular vignette presents a steamship at sea, while to the right a corresponding vignette shows a steam locomotive. The bank title THE MOLSONS BANK arcs across the top in bold letterpress, with the denomination TEN DOLLARS inscribed below the portrait; the date 2ND JANUARY, 1912 and the place of issue MONTREAL appear flanking the promise to pay clause.

Reverse description The reverse is executed entirely in dark blue intaglio on a dense guilloche background, with the central panel occupied by the Molsons Bank heraldic arms surmounted by a crest and supported by scrollwork, enclosed within an ornate frame. The bank title THE MOLSONS BANK arches above the arms, and the denomination TEN DOLLARS is lettered in bold across the lower centre. Large numeral counters 10 appear at both the left and right panels, each surrounded by elaborate lathe-work rosettes and interlocking geometric patterns.
