正面描述 The obverse is centred on an allegorical intaglio vignette of a seated female figure flanked by two subsidiary figures, set over an elaborate guilloche underprint with the denomination TEN DOLLARS repeated across the upper field. Oval intaglio portrait medallions of two bank directors occupy the left and right registers. The upper legend THE MOLSONS BANK arcs across the top, with the promise WILL PAY TO THE BEARER ON DEMAND, the issuing city MONTREAL, and the date OCT. 2nd 1905 inscribed in the lower field.

备注

Molsons Bank was one of Canada's longest-running chartered banks, tracing its origins to the Molson brewing family and operating continuously from 1855 until its absorption into the Bank of Montreal in 1925. By 1905, Canadian chartered banks still retained the right to issue their own notes — a privilege that persisted until the Bank of Canada Act of 1934 finally consolidated currency issuance under federal control. That long overlap between private and central banking is exactly why notes like this exist at all.

The British American Bank Note Company, established in Ottawa in 1866, handled the bulk of Canadian chartered bank printing during this period and maintained consistently high engraving standards. Their intaglio work on Molsons issues is among the sharper output of the era.
