| Obverse description | Printed in black and red on a pink-tinted underprint, the obverse is centred on an allegorical vignette of three classical female figures in flowing robes — the central figure elevated and flanked by two seated companions — set within a pastoral landscape. The bank title 'THE METROPOLITAN BANK' arches across the upper margin in bold serif lettering, while ornate guilloche medallions bearing large numeral '5' counters occupy both lower corners. The place and date of issue 'TORONTO, NOVEMBER 5th, 1902' are inscribed along the lower centre, beneath which appear two manuscript signatures for the President and General Manager. |
