Opmerkingen

The Union Bank of Halifax was absorbed into the Union Bank of Canada in 1910, making its independently issued notes a short-lived series. By 1900 the bank had been operating for over three decades, but the merger effectively ended any further note issuance under the Halifax name, and outstanding notes were gradually retired over the following years.

The British American Bank Note Company, printing from Montreal, handled the majority of Canadian chartered bank work in this period. Their intaglio work on Halifax issues is consistent with the high production standards they maintained for private bank contracts before the chartered banking era wound down after 1935.
