备注

The Consolidated Bank of Canada had a short and unhappy existence. Chartered in 1872, it collapsed in 1875 — just before this note's issue date — leaving depositors exposed and triggering one of the more embarrassing bank failures of the post-Confederation decade. Notes dated 1876 would have been issued during the wind-down or under successor obligations, not as part of normal commercial operations.

The British American Bank Note Company, established in Montreal in 1866, was the dominant Canadian security printer of the period and handled most of the chartered bank note work in the Dominion. Their engraving quality was generally high, reflecting direct competition with American Bank Note Company across the border.
