| Aanvullende informatie |
Mohammed VI's bimetallic dirham coinage was introduced as Morocco modernized its circulating currency in the early 2000s, with Bank Al-Maghrib progressively updating designs through successive emission years. The 2011 date coincides with significant domestic political pressure during the Arab Spring, which prompted Mohammed VI to announce a new constitution in June of that year — a reform passed by referendum with an officially reported 98% approval.
The Nordic gold alloy used in the outer ring is the same copper-aluminum-zinc-tin composition adopted across dozens of European and North African issues specifically for its resistance to corrosion and its distinctive color retention in heavy circulation.
