Beschrijving keerzijde A dynamic high-relief depiction of a mountain cyclist in full competition, leaning aggressively forward over the handlebars as the bicycle traverses a rocky, debris-strewn terrain. The rider wears a helmet and racing attire, and the bicycle's front wheel is raised slightly as stones scatter beneath the tyres, conveying speed and athletic intensity. The inscription ESPORTS OLÍMPICS arcs across the upper left field in bold lettering, with the date range 1996-2012 immediately below, referencing the span of Olympic Games during which mountain biking featured as an official discipline. The design fills the full flan with expert sculptural detail against a mirrored proof field.

Aanvullende informatie

Andorra's Olympic coinage program has historically piggybacked on Spain's IOC membership, as the microstate itself did not gain full Olympic recognition until 2015. This 2009 issue predates that recognition — Andorran athletes competed under other flags, or not at all, for most of the country's modern history. Mountain biking as an Olympic discipline was only added at Atlanta in 1996, making the sport's commemorative window quite narrow.
