| Obverse description | The quartered crowned coat of arms of Andorra occupies the central field, surmounted by an episcopal mitre-shaped crown. The shield displays the traditional quarters associated with the co-princes of Andorra: the mitre and crozier of the Bishop of Urgell and the bars of Catalonia in the upper quarters, and two cows passant in the lower quarters. The denomination '10 D.' is inscribed below the shield, with the date '1997' beneath it. The surrounding legend reads 'JOAN D.M. BISBE D'URGELL I PRINCEP D'ANDORRA', identifying Bishop Joan Marti i Alanis as co-prince of Andorra, with decorative dot separators throughout. |

| Additional information |
Andorra's FIFA licensing arrangement in the 1990s produced a string of commemorative silver issues that leaned heavily on the prestige of Joan Martí i Alanis, the Bishop of Urgell who served as one of Andorra's two co-princes. The 1994 World Cup — the tournament this coin commemorates, struck three years after the fact — was hosted entirely in the United States, the first time the competition had been held there, and generated considerable controversy over the selection of a country with no established top-flight professional soccer league at the time.
The delayed strike date of 1997 reflects standard practice for Andorran collector issues of this period, which were produced opportunistically rather than tied to actual event schedules.
