Reverse description At center, the Agnus Dei (Lamb of God) is depicted in high relief as a standing lamb facing left, with a nimbus or halo behind its head and a processional cross with pennant resting against its body. Two additional patriarchal or Toulouse crosses flank the central figure at left and upper right. The entire composition is enclosed within a plain inner circle, itself surrounded by a ring of twelve five-pointed stars evenly distributed around the border, referencing the European ECU coinage series. The Latin legend 'AGNVS DEI' is inscribed above the lamb within the inner circle.
