| Beschrijving voorzijde | The State emblem of Kuwait occupies the central field, depicting the Hawk of Quraish with wings displayed, upon whose breast is superimposed the national shield bearing the design of the Kuwaiti flag. The hawk supports a disk containing a traditional boom dhow sailing vessel in full sail. The full official name of the state is inscribed in Arabic along the upper arc of the disk. Flanking the central emblem are the Central Bank of Kuwait logo — a boom dhow sailing left with a small flag to the right — and the Kuwait Capital of Islamic Culture 2016 commemorative logo. Legends in both Arabic and English encircle the design, identifying the issuing authority and the commemorative occasion. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | The central field features a high-relief reproduction of a historic Islamic gold dinar, rendered in antique gold finish, its surface bearing multiple concentric bands of dense Kufic Arabic calligraphic inscriptions typical of early Abbasid coinage. The reproduction is set within a polished, recessed field surrounded by fine concentric milled rings that frame the central motif. Along the upper arc of the reverse, a curved English legend commemorates the occasion, while the denomination '10 DINARS' appears in the lower left field in Latin script, with the Arabic equivalent 'عشرة دنانير' to the lower right. A small decorative foliate ornament is positioned at the very base of the field. |

Kuwait City was designated Capital of Islamic Culture for 2016 by the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), a recognition rotated annually among member cities since 1998. The gilded silver version of this issue sits alongside a pure silver counterpart, both struck specifically for the commemoration rather than any monetary purpose — Kuwait's circulating coinage had long since abandoned silver entirely.
