背面描述 A Quranic verse (At-Tawbah 9:40) arcs across the upper register within a beaded border. The central field features a radiant sun rising behind an architectural composition depicting the Dome of the Rock (Qubbat al-Sakhrah) and Al-Masjid an-Nabawi (the Prophet's Mosque), the whole framed within a decorative olive sprig at left and enclosed within a larger outer circle. The Hijri year 1400 and the Gregorian year 1980 appear at the bottom, flanking the denomination expressed in Arabic as عشرة دنانير (Ten Dinars).

附加信息

Issued to mark the beginning of the 15th century in the Islamic Hijri calendar — a moment of considerable symbolic weight across the Muslim world, coinciding roughly with November 1979 in the Gregorian calendar. Jordan under Hussein bin Talal was one of several Arab states that issued commemorative silver pieces for the occasion, positioning the Hashemite kingdom's identity firmly within the broader Islamic historical narrative at a politically charged moment: the Iranian Revolution had just reshaped the region, and Hussein was acutely aware of the ideological currents running through his neighborhood.
