Aanvullende informatie

Issued to mark the tenth anniversary of Abdullah II's accession following the death of King Hussein in February 1999, this piece belongs to a short series of Jordanian commemoratives produced in the late 2000s when the Central Bank briefly expanded its precious-metal program. Hussein's deathbed decision to change the line of succession — removing his brother Hassan, who had held the position for 34 years, in favor of Abdullah just days before he died — made the accession itself one of the more dramatic transfers of power in modern Arab monarchies.
