The Bahrain Monetary Agency replaced the Bahrain Currency Board in 1973, taking over note issuance as part of a broader push to formalize the island's financial infrastructure following independence. This note belongs to the third series issued under the BMA, which De La Rue produced on a rolling replacement schedule through the early 1990s as older issues were progressively withdrawn.

Bahrain's small physical circulation pool — a consequence of the country's size rather than its wealth — means high-denomination notes from this period saw relatively light wear before replacement cycles pulled them back.
