Aanvullende informatie

The "coup d'état" in question is Zine El Abidine Ben Ali's bloodless removal of Habib Bourguiba on November 7, 1987 — officially framed as a medical coup, with a team of doctors certifying Bourguiba unfit to govern. Ben Ali had been prime minister for less than two months when he acted. The anniversary became a cornerstone of his regime's self-legitimizing calendar, commemorated aggressively through official channels including coin issues.

The French-legend variant exists alongside an Arabic-legend counterpart, KM#451, issued the same year — a bilingual pairing consistent with Tunisian commemorative practice throughout the Ben Ali period.
