| Opis awersu | The Tunisian national coat of arms is prominently displayed in the centre of the field, featuring a quartered shield with a sailing ship in the upper section, scales of justice in the lower left quarter, and a rampant lion in the lower right quarter. Above the shield, the national emblem of a crescent and star is depicted. Decorative arabesque ornaments flank the shield on both sides. The Arabic legend reading the country name curves along the upper rim, while the denomination '10 دنانير' (10 Dinars) appears in large numerals and script at the base of the field. |

The "coup d'état" framing is Tunisia's own official terminology — remarkably candid for a commemorative coin. The November 7, 1987 removal of Habib Bourguiba by Prime Minister Zine El Abidine Ben Ali was declared a constitutional transfer of power on medical grounds, but Tunis never bothered to sanitize the language on its anniversary issues. Ben Ali's government struck this series annually through the 1990s, each one marking another year of a presidency that would eventually run to 23 before collapsing in January 2011.
