Algeria's 10 Dinar note of this series occupies a peculiar position in the country's post-independence monetary history — by the early 1980s, the denomination had been so thoroughly eroded by inflation that it functioned almost as small change, yet the Central Bank continued issuing it in paper form rather than transitioning to coinage, which didn't happen until later in the decade.
The watermark is the sole security feature, a notably sparse specification for the period, suggesting either cost constraints or an assumption that the low face value made counterfeiting economically unattractive.
