Opmerkingen

The South Arabian Currency Authority had almost no time to function as a monetary institution. This note was issued in 1965 — the Authority's notes circulating into 1967 — just as the Federation of South Arabia was collapsing under competing nationalist pressures and British withdrawal. When the People's Republic of Southern Yemen was proclaimed in November 1967, the entire SACA series was replaced almost immediately by the South Yemeni dinar, making the higher denominations like this 10-dinar note short-lived in practice.

Thomas De La Rue's involvement ensured technical quality that the issuing authority itself would never have the institutional life to appreciate.
