Jordan's first post-Hashemite Kingdom series launched in 1959, but the 1965 dated notes represent the mature second issue of that design run — printed again by De La Rue, who had held the contract since independence-era currency reform replaced the Palestine pound. De La Rue's relationship with the Central Bank of Jordan was essentially exclusive through this period, and the consistency of production quality across denominations reflects that stable contract arrangement.
The watermark is the principal security feature, a deliberate minimalism at a time when Middle Eastern central banks were still building public confidence in domestic paper over coin.
