| 裏面の説明 | The central field depicts a stylized representation of the improvised wartime bridge constructed by Yugoslav Partisans during the Battle of the Neretva in 1943, rendered in a modernist graphic style with a diagonal lattice structure spanning across three vertical pillars. The commemorative dates 1943 and 1983 appear in the upper field, marking the fortieth anniversary of the battle. The bilingual toponym legend NERETVA in Latin script and НЕРЕТВА in Cyrillic is inscribed in the lower field beneath the bridge motif. |

The Battle of the Neretva — officially "Case White" to the Germans — was a 1943 Axis offensive designed to destroy Tito's Partisans in Bosnia. Outnumbered and encircled, the Partisans broke through by crossing the Neretva River after deliberately destroying their own bridge to halt Chetnik pursuit from the south. The Yugoslav government commemorated the engagement repeatedly, including a 1969 film that received an Academy Award nomination. This coin was issued as part of a broader series celebrating Partisan victories, timed roughly to the battle's fortieth anniversary.
