This issue coincides almost exactly with Reza Shah's forced abdication in September 1941, when Allied forces — Britain from the south, the Soviet Union from the north — occupied Iran and compelled his exile to South Africa. The occupation disrupted the Imperial Mint's operations, and pieces struck in the final year of the range show inconsistent quality as institutional continuity fractured. Reza Shah had only consolidated the mint under centralized state control in the early 1930s, making this small aluminum bronze coin a product of a modernization program that lasted barely a decade before external forces dismantled it.
