The Gambia's P#13 series ran through the early 1990s under the AFPRC military government that seized power in July 1994 — meaning notes dated within the series' later issue window circulated under a junta rather than the civilian administration that preceded it. Thomas De La Rue had held the printing contract for Gambian currency continuously since independence, a relationship that persisted across the political rupture without interruption.
The watermark is the sole security feature, modest even by the standards of the period.
