Brazil's cruzeiro-era proof and "prova" (pattern/specimen) strikes were produced internally by the Casa da Moeda do Brasil for Banco Central approval and archival purposes — not for public sale. The 1980 10 Cruzeiros denomination arrived just as inflation was accelerating sharply toward the crisis that would eventually force Brazil through multiple currency replacements over the following decade. Most prova pieces from this period exist in tiny quantities, with population data across major grading services remaining negligible.
