Vera Lynn died on 18 June 2020 at the age of 103, and Gibraltar moved quickly — this piece appeared the same year as a memorial issue. Gibraltar has long operated an aggressive commemorative program targeting British collector sentiment, and Lynn, whose connection to wartime Gibraltar was negligible, fits the broader pattern of licensing recognizable British cultural figures for Crown dependency issues.
At 400 grams and nearly 89mm across, this is unambiguously a display piece. Gold-plated copper-nickel of this format has no circulation history anywhere.
