| 背面描述 | Right-facing uniformed bust of Lord Mountbatten of Burma in naval dress, occupying the left portion of the design within a circular frame. To the right, a crowned heraldic shield bearing the name 'KELLY' is depicted, representing HMS Kelly, the destroyer he commanded. Below the central design, a detailed broadside rendering of a naval destroyer is shown in profile. The legend 'MOUNTBATTEN' arcs across the upper field, while the denomination '10 CROWNS' appears in the lower exergue. |

Issued the same year Mountbatten was assassinated — he was killed by an IRA bomb aboard his boat off the coast of Sligo in August 1979 — this commemorative was part of a wave of memorial coinage produced across British dependent territories in the months that followed. The Turks and Caicos Islands issued several crown-sized pieces through this period, largely aimed at the collector market rather than any domestic circulation.
The .500 silver fineness is lower than the sterling standard and reflects the economics of the commemorative trade at the time.
