Part of Nicaragua's "Riqueza del Mundo" wildlife series, this issue belongs to a broader Central American trend of high-relief silver bullion programs aimed squarely at the collector market rather than any domestic monetary function. Nicaragua's córdoba, introduced in 1912 to replace the peso, has long operated under chronic devaluation pressure — the current córdoba oro is itself the fourth iteration of the currency since 1988. KM#120 documents limited independent circulation data for this type, and surviving examples almost universally appear in original mint packaging.
