Obverse description At center, the Nicaraguan national coat of arms is depicted within a circular border, flanked by the issuing country's legend and denomination. Surrounding the central motif, the coats of arms of the other participating nations of the 12th Ibero-American Series are arranged in a ring around the periphery of the field. Additional information

Nicaragua's railway history is a short and largely forgotten chapter. The country built its first line in the 1880s connecting Corinto to Managua, primarily to move coffee and other export commodities to the Pacific port. The network never exceeded a few hundred kilometers and had effectively ceased passenger operations by the mid-20th century, with freight service collapsing entirely by the 1990s.

This .925 silver issue is part of Nicaragua's broader collector series, struck for the international numismatic market rather than domestic circulation.
