Obverse lettering BANCO CENTRAL DE RESERVA DE EL SALVADOR PAGARÁ AL PORTADOR DE ACUERDO COM EL ARTÍCULO 39 DE SU LEY CONSTITUTIVA 10 X DIEZ COLONES SAN SALVADOR, 17 DE MARZO DE 1954.

Reverse description Printed in brown on a light underprint with elaborate guilloche latticework framing the entire face. A finely engraved intaglio portrait of Christopher Columbus, captioned "CRISTOBAL COLON", occupies a circular vignette at center, flanked by large Roman numeral X devices and floral guilloche rosettes at the corners. The denomination legend "DIEZ COLONES" appears in a solid panel at the foot of the design, with the printer's imprint "WATERLOW & SONS LIMITED, LONDRES" in the lower margin.
