The truncation of the neck is square and unadorned. The surrounding legend reads VICTORIA D: G: REG: NEWFOUNDLAND, separated by raised dots, and is contained within a toothed border. The portrait is executed in the young-head style characteristic of early Victorian colonial coinage, with high relief and crisp sculptural definition. |
