| 备注 |
Army Field Ration Supplement mess currency was issued for use exclusively within U.S. military dining facilities — not for general post exchange use — and circulated alongside, but separately from, the broader Military Payment Certificate system. These fractional mess chits filled a practical gap: MPC denominations were too large for small cafeteria transactions, and regular coinage was prohibited in overseas commands to prevent its flow into local black markets.
The grey paper stock was deliberately low-cost and non-negotiable outside the mess hall, which meant replacement cycles were frequent and surviving examples with minimal handling are harder to find than the long production window might suggest.
