Reverse description The reverse features a finely detailed high-relief depiction of a crowned seahorse (Hippocampus coronatus) occupying the central field, its characteristic spiny coronet and articulated body segments rendered with great naturalistic precision. The creature is shown in profile, oriented upward, surrounded by stylised aquatic vegetation including fan-like sea grasses and coral fronds that fill the field. The deeply mirrored proof surfaces accentuate the sculptural quality of the design, which was engraved by Stuart Devlin. No legend or inscription appears on the reverse, allowing the marine motif to dominate the composition entirely.
