Singapore's second decimal coinage series — commonly called the "Ship Series" — ran for decades with minimal interruption, but the 10-cent piece carries a subtle collector distinction: early strikes show the ribbon on the lion head crest falling downward, a feature that was later modified, giving the two variants different reference numbers despite otherwise identical specifications. The KM#100 "ribbon downwards" designation exists precisely to separate it from its successor.
