| Obverse description | The post-apartheid coat of arms of South Africa rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field, depicting a Bataleur eagle with outstretched wings surmounting a shield charged with two Khoisan figures, flanked by crossed knobkierie and spear, with a protea wreath encircling the base. The motto scroll below bears the legend !KE E: /XARRA //KE in the Khoisan language, with the engraver's initials ALS appearing to the left of the scroll.
