| Opmerkingen |
Canada's Post Office Department issued postal notes as a low-cost alternative to money orders — cheaper to produce, cheaper for the sender, and redeemable at any post office. The 1934 series was authorized under the Post Office Act and intended for small remittances that didn't justify a full money order fee.
These circulated heavily and were handled roughly. Surviving examples in decent condition are genuinely uncommon, not because few were printed but because nobody thought to save them.
