In 1920, the Monnaie de Paris produced a series of pattern coinage for French Equatorial and West African colonial territories as France restructured its overseas monetary framework following the First World War. This 10 centimes pattern in silver was never adopted for circulation — the colonial issues that followed used aluminium-bronze and later aluminum, not silver, reflecting both cost considerations and metal scarcity in the postwar years.
The Lec#160 attribution places it firmly within Leccompte's catalogued colonial patterns, a reference that remains the authoritative source for French colonial pattern coinage of this period.
