10 Cents Longxuyen Country Club

Private club scrip from the Mekong Delta town of Long Xuyên, issued for use within the club's premises during the years when the American military presence in the region was substantial enough to sustain such facilities. Club tokens and scrip of this type circulated in controlled environments — mess halls, officers' clubs, recreation facilities — largely to prevent local currency from accumulating in the hands of staff and to sidestep the complexities of piaster exchange rates, which were politically sensitive throughout this period.

Vietnamese provincial club scrip survives in small quantities; most was either spent down or discarded when clubs closed as the American drawdown accelerated after 1969.
