Obverse description The national coat of arms of Belize occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield supported by two woodcutters, each bearing a tool — an axe and a wooden paddle — and flanked by leafy branches forming a wreath. A mahogany tree rises above the shield. The motto ribbon at the base of the arms bears the inscription SUB UMBRA FLOREO. The country name BELIZE appears in raised lettering in the upper field, and the date is shown in the lower field.
