Obverse description The Jamaican coat of arms is depicted at centre, featuring a shield charged with a cross and five pineapples, supported by a Taino man to the right and an armoured figure to the left, with a crocodile as crest above. A scroll below the shield bears the national motto in the exergue. The commemorative legend arcs around the upper periphery, with the years 1962 and 1983 flanking the design vertically at left and right respectively, and the Franklin Mint mark FM appears at the lower field.
