| Obverse description | Bare-headed effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, portrayed at approximately 77 years of age, wearing a necklace and earrings, after the model by Susan Taylor. The legend arcs around the upper periphery, while a commemorative dual-date inscription flanked by four pearls — symbolising the four successive royal effigies used on Canadian coinage throughout Her Majesty's reign — appears in the lower field.
