Obverse description The obverse features a selective gold-plated uncrowned effigy of King George VI in left-facing profile, as engraved by T.H. Paget, faithfully reproducing the portrait used on Canadian circulation coinage from 1937 to 1947. The king is depicted with neatly combed hair and a plain, unadorned neckline, consistent with the original wartime-era portrait style. The engraver's initials 'HP' appear in the field just below the truncation of the bust. The circumferential Latin legend reads 'GEORGIVS VI D:G:REX ET IND:IMP:' (George VI, by the Grace of God, King and Emperor of India), separated by dot stops and set against a deeply mirrored proof field. A fine beaded inner border encircles the entire design.
