Obverse description Crowned and bare-shouldered effigy of King George VI facing left, wearing the Imperial State Crown, engraved by Percy Metcalfe whose initials 'PM' appear below the truncation. The legend 'KING GEORGE THE SIXTH' curves around the scalloped periphery of the coin. The portrait is rendered in a restrained, dignified style characteristic of British colonial coinage of the period.
