| 正面描述 | Crowned effigy of King George VI facing left, wearing the Imperial State Crown with ornate detailing including fleur-de-lis and arched bands. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail on the facial features and crown. The circular legend arcs around the periphery of the scalloped flan, following the contour of the coin's eight-lobed edge. |

Ceylon's shift to nickel-brass for this denomination in 1951 followed the postwar disruption to global nickel supplies and broader Commonwealth-wide pressures to reduce coinage costs. The island was moving toward full independence — achieved in 1948 — and the retained George VI obverse during these transitional years reflected the continued dominance of the Crown as nominal sovereign even as Ceylon governed itself. George VI died in February 1952, making the earliest strikes of this series among the last colonial-era coins to bear his effigy before the Elizabeth II issues superseded them.
