| Obverse description | Crowned effigy of King George VI facing left, wearing the Tudor Crown, engraved in a restrained and precise style by Percy Metcalfe. The king's bare neck and well-defined facial profile are rendered with fine detail. The engraver's initials 'PM' appear in the field below the truncation. The circular legend reads 'GEORGE VI KING AND EMPEROR OF INDIA' around the periphery, separated by a raised dot, with the inscription running from lower left to lower right. A beaded border frames the entire design. |
