Obverse description Left-facing crowned and draped bust of King George V, sculpted by Edgar Bertram MacKennal, occupies the central field. The king wears an imperial crown and military dress with decorations visible at the shoulder. A small designer's initial dot appears below the truncation. The circular legend reads GEORGE V KING AND EMPEROR OF INDIA, with the engraver's abbreviation B.M. following the inscription. A beaded inner border runs parallel to the reeded rim.
